Product Manager, Advanced Product Planning
As the Head of advanced product planning for Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA), Sascha Simon is responsible for long-term planning functions in the strategic planning area of product management. In this role, Simon ensures that future Mercedes-Benz product offerings in the U.S.best deliver on customer needs and desires based on market research and trend data, working in tandem with research & development in Stuttgart, Germanyand Palo Alto, California. His area is responsible for the all cross carline technologies including future alternative powertrain concepts, advanced driver assist systems, conventional drive trains and safety systems and the mbrace ™ telematics program. The group not only develops future product and technology strategies and implements those plans with the driver in mind but also oversees the implementation and execution.
Previously, Sascha Simon has held various positions in the field of advanced technologies withMercedes-BenzUSAsince 2003.
Prior to joining MBUSA in 2004, Simon worked at Daimler-Benz Aerospace in Munich where he was head of business development and strategy for the Satellite Constellation branch of the then newly formed European Aeronautics, Defense and Space Corporation (EADS), before holding several other positions in areas ranging from corporate planning and technology to jet engines and advanced space systems. He was instrumental in building the early case for the European Navigation Constellation Galileo and spearheaded satellite-based telematics and satellite radio initiatives.
Simon holds degrees in physics and business administration from theJustus-LiebigUniversityinGiessen,Germanyand from theUniversityofCalifornia,Los Angeles. He lives with his family inWarwick,NY. In his spare time he is a dedicated conservationist, scuba diver, as well as co-founder and board member of the non-profit organization Shark Savers, Inc.
