John Capp, Director – Electrical & Control Systems Research and Active Safety Strategic Lead – General Motors Research & Development, Warren, Michigan

John is currently Director of Electrical & Control Systems Research at General Motors R&D and is responsible for the development of advanced electrical systems and components for vehicle safety, comfort and infotainment. He’s also the strategic lead for active safety, driver assistance, and automated driving technologies.

John holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering & Management Institute (now Kettering University), and an MS in Engineering from Purdue University. John has over 25 years of experience at General Motors, primarily in product engineering. John has worked on many aspects of vehicle safety and crashworthiness for many GM products, and for the past 6 years, has led the development and implementation of active safety, advanced driver assistance, and connected vehicle safety technologies within both R&D and Product Engineering organizations.
